Economy Candy (Manhattan, New York) For years, I searched to find what could be called the quintessential American candy store. As I grew older, more and more establishments vanished. From the Heaven and Candy Barrel chains in the shopping malls to the small mom and pop shoppes. After reading information and reviews online, I was excited to find that such a quintessentail spot exists within driving distance, in New York City. Economy Candy is a no-frills, candy to the ceiling type of store. Variety beats quality in this supermarket of sweetness that offers everything from boxes of Nerds, Juicyfruits and Baseball cards, to individual American classics like Rocky Road and Abba Zabba.
